Removing ear wax with a candle?

In my science class we were having a discussion about removing your ear wax by using a candle. I’m not sure how to do this but it was mentioned that you take a candle, lite it, then make a hole in a plastic cup. Does anyone know how to do this correctly? Because i want to try it myself. I heard that more than half a cup of ear wax falls out.

It’s an old remedy, and it is not safe. Technically, you’re not supposed to clean your ears, and ENT’s do.

I am really not 100 percent sure, but I think that you would put your ear in one end of the cup, and then hold a candle up to the other. The hot air would be what melts the wax if it does work… I am not sure it would. You would probably burn yourself before anything came out, or at least burn up the cup. Overall, I’d say you are better of to use a Q-tip.

No its not safe and you can use a q tip and some alchol to clean your ears even though techinally your not suppose to clean your ears because they say you can damage your hearing .
